The most common signs of dandruff that everyone can relate to, simply put, are an itchy scalp and flakes coming off the head. The flakes may be white & powdery, or greasy & scaly as mentioned above.

The other signs to spot are a sudden outbreak of acne and also, more hair strands coming off every time you stroke it.

The baldness in men and women is a result of hair thinning that usually is a result of hormonal imbalance. However, at a stage where oestrogen levels drop and androgens rise, women too start losing hair. The hair thinning in men progresses through seven stages. the pattern of hair loss is U-shaped. It starts with thinning on the crown or hairline, which advances to top of the head finally leaving only a band of hair on the back side. In women, the hair thinning progresses through three stages starting with diffuse hair loss or thinning on the top.

Women develop baldness in periods when oestrogen level falls and the male hormone androgen starts attacking hair follicles. Women are most prone to hair loss at menarche, post pregnancy, and menopause. The rate of baldness in women varies from person to person. While some women may take 25 years to reach significant baldness, others might take just 5 years.

The DHT blockers are the anti-male hormones. They are known as DHT blockers because they block the conversion of male hormone testosterone into Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). In men, the DHT causes destruction of hair follicles and causes irreversible type of baldness also known as male pattern thinning.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method is less invasive and does not make an incision on the scalp.
